What We're Reading, Listening to, and Watching This Week (5/3/2026)
Linda-Marie Barrett / Executive Director:
Reading: Falling for Peachtree Bluff by Kristy Woodson Harvey. The day after finishing the magnificent Happy Land by Dolen Perkins-Valdez, Harvey’s cozy, small-town Georgia beach read landed on my doorstep. I’m new to the series, so I'm still familiarizing myself with the Murphy family and their history. I’m enjoying the many ways peaches find their way into the storyline including the apparently delicious “peach spice” coffee.
Listening: To rainfall, which we desperately needed because of a drought and overwhelming pollen.
Watching: The Canal Boat Diaries on Acorn. It’s so restful to watch Robbie Cummings navigate his 42ft narrowboat Naughty Lass through Britain’s waterways. His journey offers fascinating glimpses of the country’s industrial past and the mechanics of passing through locks.
Candice Huber / Membership:
Reading: Nothing new to report!
Listening: Been into reggae covers of 90s rock and pop punk music lately. Green Day's "Brain Stew" makes a particularly great reggae song.
Watching: Binged Dan Levy's new show Big Mistakes on Netflix, which is absurd and hilarious.
Nicki Leone / Communications:
Reading: We Are Green and Trembling by Gabriela Cabezon Camara, White Moss by Anna Nerkagi, and Written on the Water by Eileen Chang.
Listening: Forbidden Notebook by Alba de Céspedes
Watching: People at the local Farmers' Market. It is amazing to me that every stall is selling handmade soap. Even the "Fun Guys" mushroom tent has some.
SP Rankin / Website Administrator:
Reading: I am sadly behind in reading right now, and my TBR shelf is about to give up on me. Hang in there, TBR shelf!
Listening: I am grateful for whatever the playlist delivers unto me at any given moment. At this particular moment, it is "Days Like This" by Van Morrison.
Watching: Cloudy, rainy skies which are welcome after a too-dry last few weeks.
Andrea Richardson / Sales:
Reading: A new ARC from Tananarive Due - Mazywood. I am early into it, but it's just as good as her others so far.
Listening: The quiet in my house before the work day starts.
Watching: Big Mistakes on Netflix! It's Dan Levy's new show, and it's so darkly funny.
