Recap: Lunch and Learn with Dave Lucey / Edelweiss Omnibus

Posted By: Nicki Leone SIBA News,

Dave Lucey, Director of Omnibus Adoption & Ecosystem Partnerships (and, incidentally, co-owner of Page 158 Books in Wake Forest, NC and SIBA board member) introduced Edelweiss Omnibus to about 20 avidly interested booksellers at SIBA's latest "Lunch and Learn" event for introducing booksellers to key industry partners and resources.

Omnibus presents itself as a bookstore "operating system" that links inventory, ordering, receiving, special orders, and returns to store point of sales systems and publisher accounts. Originally created to help bookstores that use Square for their POS, Omnibus seeks to bring sales, ordering, and returns data together under one roof, and provide booksellers with a clear look at their inventory flow.

Dave gave a whirlwind tour of Omnibus, taking booksellers through the process of identifying inventory that needs to be restocked and creating and sending orders, receiving orders and managing inventory.

Because it is a bookstore-specific management platform, it offers more useful functionality than more generic retail platforms like Clover or Shopify, such as organizing restocking suggestions into potential orders, or allowing the store to create a rolling inventory "audit" by section to ensure everything is where it should be.
