What We're Reading, Listening to, and Watching This Week (2/8/2026)

Linda-Marie BarrettLinda-Marie Barrett / Executive Director:
Reading: Green Equinox by Elizabeth Mavor, for my book club. Timed so our book club will discuss during the vernal equinox, this lost classic (for American readers, anyway) will certainly provoke a lively discussion.
Listening
: To a rotation of soothing stations on my Calm and Pandora apps, and the sounds of silence.
Watching
: Poirot, Brokenwood, and All Creatures Good and Small. Waiting for some other favorite series’ new season to launch.

Candice HuberCandice Huber / Membership:
Reading: These days, lots of horrific news articles and trying my best to stay hopeful!
Listening
: One of my favorite bands from back in the day called The Format have reunited to make their first studio album in nearly 20 years called Boycott Heaven that is superb and reminded me why I love them so much. They capture the feeling of being lost in the current turmoil so well and still send the message to have gratitude and love for the good things.
Watching
: This season of The Traitors has been my favorite so far. It has given me all the drama I want in a show like this. Whether it remains my favorite season will depend entirely on who wins.

Nicki LeoneNicki Leone / Communications:
Reading: I finally finished Julia Ioffe's Motherland, what a good "winter" book that was. It made me long for other winter stories, and the things that came to mind first were some of my favorite books from when I was a kid: Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising, Moominland Midwinter by Tove Jansson, and my battered but beautifully illustrated copy of Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates are all sitting next to the bed right now.
Listening: In keeping with my wintry mood, Leanne Betasamosake Simpson's Theory of Ice album.
Watching: Speed Skating at the Olympics.

SP RankinSP Rankin / Website Administrator:
Reading: The other day, I was suddenly in the mood for something as funny and smart as Andrew Sean Greer's Less, and like magic (aka ordered from Bookshop.org) Jen Beagin's Big Swiss has just appeared in my mailbox.
Listening:
Gillian Welch's 2003 album, Soul Journey, and especially "Look at Miss Ohio," one of my favorite songs from the last twenty years.
Watching: Riot Women, on BritBox, which is one of those shows that makes me talk to the people on the television.

Andi RichardsonAndrea Richardson / Sales:
Reading: I read SO MANY books over the past week since I couldn't leave the house much. My current read is Dearly Departed by Chip Pons. It's a grumpy/sunshine romance with Hades as an MC and it's darling.
Listening
: My cats can't stop ack-acking at the birds outside.
Watching
: All of the Catherine O'Hara movies I can get. May she RIP.
