What We're Reading, Listening to, and Watching This Week (9/27/2026)

Linda-Marie BarrettLinda-Marie Barrett / Executive Director:
Reading: Word Salad by Susan Coll. Described as a comedy of manners, this delightful novel is just the thing for my current reading pleasure. Set in a bookstore and told from the POV of the event manager, this fictional world involves many familiar bookseller and author archetypes with the usual sensitivities, egos, and shared love of the word.
Listening: To the hum of my aromatherapy diffuser scenting the office with a blend of frankincense, lavender, rosemary, ylang-ylang, and vanilla.
Watching: The newest season of The Great British Baking Show, of course!

CandiceCandice Huber / Membership:
Reading: I finished The Last Contract of Isako by Fonda Lee, and it was great! Lee is one of my favorite authors. I'm also excited to have started Dead Beat by Leigh Bardugo, the VERY HIGHLY anticipated last book in the Alex Stern series! I can't wait to see how it all shakes out.
Listening: I'm slowly making my way through Twig's Traveling Tomes on my short drives around the city. It's the perfect listen for the fall!
Watching: The Traitors has started back up, and I'm super excited for this season with noncelebrities!

Nicki LeoneNicki Leone / Communications:
Reading: White Moss by Anna Nerkagi, which we're doing for book club next week. But honestly, it's been a time of lost voices: Robin Morgan, Wendell Berry, Annie Dillard. Their books are all stacked by my bed right now.
Listening: David Naimon talking to Claudia Rankine about her new book, Triage, on the podcast Between the Covers.
Watching: At home we're making our way through the American Masters episodes on PBS, starting with the one on Mary Oliver.

SP RankinSP Rankin / Website Administrator:
Reading: White Moss by Anna Nerkagi
Listening: The song "Glad and Sorry" by Faces.
Watching: The utterly ridiculous Fackham Hall. Reader, I laughed.

Andi RichardsonAndrea Richardson / Sales:
Reading: Meryl Wilsner's upcoming spicy romance, Flour Girl. They are an auto-read author for me, and this one also revisits a couple from a previous book that I loved.
Listening: Like all the other Basic Bs, I am listening to the four new songs that Taylor Swift just dropped (though I don't really care for "Cleveland!").
Watching: The new season of Ted Lasso, and it's so heartwarming and lovely. Everyone watches women's sports!
