What We're Reading, Listening to, and Watching This Week (3/15/2026)
Linda-Marie Barrett / Executive Director:
Reading: How to Try Again: An Approach to Navigating Chaos & Making Change by Steve Kamb. Kamb's philosophy is “fail compassionately, try again differently.” I’ve read this lesson delivered in multiple ways, but Kamb’s approach is charmingly self-deprecating and encouraging, a good read for our chaotic now. About to start A Well-Trained Wife: My Escape From Christian Patriarchy by Tia Levings for my book club. Will NOT be reading this before bedtime as I know it's going to be triggering.
Listening: The wind has been gusting for hours as a big storm sweeps through. Looking forward to the coming quiet and warming temperatures.
Watching: Trying not to binge-watch Virgin River so it lasts longer, but it’s proving difficult to hold back. This show is cheesy and melodramatic, but it’s also big-hearted and community-oriented, which is just what I need right now.
Candice Huber / Membership:
Reading: I've not been reading much this week, as I'm trying to get a lot of work done, but I'll be reading a lot next week!
Listening: Just started The Isle in the Silver Sea by Tasha Suri, and I feel like I'll be listening for quite a while.
Watching: According to my app, I'm currently watching 13 shows, but I'll specifically call out Rooster, a new show on HBO Max with Steve Carell that is delightful. Bill Lawrence, who did Scrubs, Shrinking, and Ted Lasso, is the creator, so if you like those types of shows, this one will be right up your alley. At this point, I'll watch anything Bill Lawrence puts out.
Nicki Leone / Communications:
Reading: Yes, still on Transversal by Maria Popova. It is dense, but wonderful. I also scrounged up an old but decent two-volume edition of Black Lamb and Grey Falcon by Rebecca West, which has some amazing photographs in it.
Listening: And because when I binge, I really binge, I have The Big Read Cast episode #4 from 2018 on my Soundcloud app because the subject is, yes, Black Lamb and Grey Falcon.
Watching: Mom and dad finally decided to explore my Criterion Channel subscription. They may never let me have it back. Last week was a series of Gwyneth Paltrow movies -- A Perfect Murder, Two Lovers, and Sliding Doors. I hadn't seen any of them.
SP Rankin / Website Administrator:
Reading: Mostly Airtable as summer catalog orders came to a close, but I look forward to returning to the printed page soon.
Listening: Lots of new music, but sometimes Tori Amos calls from the 1990s.
Watching: The most recent seasons of Dark Winds and Shrinking, and after the Oscars, I have a whole list of documentaries I want to watch.
Andrea Richardson / Sales:
Reading: Since it's Trans Rights Readathon at the moment, I just finished TJ Alexander's delightful A Lady For All Seasons. I loved it so much!
Listening: I'm revisiting Kate McKinnon's Millicent Quibb series, but on audiobook this time. Hearing her voice brings me a lot of joy.
Watching: I'm still obsessed with The Pitt, and wish I could binge the whole season without waiting. I also watched Hamnet last night and feel that Jessie Buckley's Oscar was very well earned.
