Learn About the Professional Booksellers School
Sept 9: Lunch and Learn with the Professional Booksellers School
on Zoom 12:00 p.m.
Nineteen SIBA Booksellers enrolled in a course from the Professional Booksellers School in the 2026 Spring Semester. Seven received a certification for their course, making them part of the rising vanguard of business leaders for the next generation of bookselling.
On September 9, SIBA Booksellers will have a chance to talk to the founder of the Professional Booksellers School, Eileen Dengler, and dean and instructor Kit Little, about what PBS does and how it can help booksellers at all levels. PBS was created to provide independent booksellers with the education and training to elevate their skills, offer a baseline of knowledge upon which to build successful stores and careers, and create an opportunity for mentorship, guidance, and innovation by sharing collective knowledge. But Dengler says, "That is all mission-statement speak to say, simply, we don’t want you to struggle if there is a solution or system that someone else has figured out."
As part of SIBA's ongoing support for bookseller development, booksellers from current SIBA member bookstores receive a discount on course fees when registering for a PBS course. Their bookstore can apply for partial reimbursement of course fees when the bookseller completes their certification. SIBA members are also eligible for free classes as part of SIBA's PBS Sponsorship.
