Lunch and Learn: a SIBA Industry Partner Series

SIBA’s Lunch & Learn series brings industry partners to SIBA booksellers to share tips on the best ways to work together to save time, take advantage of benefits, and sell more books. The series will feature presenters from key organizations in the book industry, including publishers, vendors, and non-profits, whose services have been widely adopted by booksellers.

Events will take place approximately once a month on Wednesdays, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. on Zoom. It is free to SIBA members.  Bring your lunch, notebook, and questions!

About this event:

The Professional Booksellers School (PBS) was created to provide independent booksellers with the education and training to elevate their skills, offer a baseline of knowledge upon which to build successful stores and careers, and create an opportunity for mentorship, guidance, and innovation by sharing collective knowledge. That is all mission-statement speak to say, simply, we don’t want you to struggle if there is a solution or system that someone else has figured out. Meet the founder and president of PBS, Eileen Dengler, and dean and instructor, Kit Little, whose passion for this project knows no bounds.

About the Professional Booksellers School:

The purpose of the Professional Bookseller Certification Program is to provide independent booksellers with an education, training, and accreditation process that will:

  1. Elevate the trade of independent bookselling to a standard approaching that of other professionals in similar industries related to education and public literary engagement.
  2. Offer a standardized baseline knowledge across all aspects of the independent bookselling industry, as well as professional development opportunities for career booksellers.
  3. Create an opportunity for mentorship, guidance, innovation, teaching, and information sharing among book industry members that will compensate people for their time and expertise.
