SIBA is a member of the Right to Read Working Group - an alliance of organizations protecting freedom of expression and combating censorship. Its mission is to coordinate and amplify efforts across organizations to defend the freedom to read and preserve open access to books representing a multitude of identities and ideas.

One of its functions is to act as a strategic hub and provide resources to organizations fighting specific challenges. Among other things, they track pending legislation that targets freedom of expression (2025 tracker | 2026 tracker)
