What We're Reading, Listening to, and Watching This Week (6/21/2026)

Linda-Marie BarrettLinda-Marie Barrett / Executive Director:
Reading: Beginning The Vagabond by Colette for my July book club. Our club always includes lost classics among contemporary reads in fiction and non-fiction. Very much looking forward to this novel by Colette, as it will be a first read for me.
Listening:
Enjoying peaceful music on Pandora stations and quiet.
Watching:
I’m at the Weymouth Center for the Arts and Humanities this week for a writing residency (though still working in the afternoons on NVNR because it’s that time of year). Every morning and evening I’m walking their lovely grounds. There is no TV and minimal social media viewing this week. Much needed!

CandiceCandice Huber / Membership:
Reading: In the spirit of trying to add more time for joy and meaning in my life, I'm reading Make Time: How to Focus on What Matters Every Day by Jake Knapp and John Zeratsky and Designing Your Life by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans.
Crafting
: I've been loving sitting outside and cross-stitching lately. My current project is almost finished. It's baseball-themed and says "There's no place like home" (get it? home plate?) with a baseball in the colors of my favorite team, the Cleveland Guardians.
Helping
: I'm really involved with mutual aid, and I've been enjoying organizing with The People's Distro, which is a local group that hands out free produce, non-perishable goods, clothing, and more to our community. We also established The People's Clinic, where we bring in doctors and nurses for education and things like blood pressure checks. I also live right across from an elderly folks' retirement community, and I've made friends with some of the residents there and bring them good food and chocolate, which they really appreciate!

Nicki LeoneNicki Leone / Communications:
Reading: Maggie O'Farrell's Land and Steppe by Oksana Vasyakina are still my fiction reads.
Listening: I'm writing this in advance, so assuming I finished listening to Amitav Ghosh's Ghost Eye, the next audiobook in the queue is Nothing at All by Olivia Tapiero.
Watching: Wild turkeys in the yard. Monarch butterflies in the milkweed.

SP RankinSP Rankin / Website Administrator:
(Re)Reading: Hollywood Pride: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Representation and Perseverance in Film by Alonso Duralde
Listening: I made a playlist titled "All Purpose Self-Rising Weekend" that is basically just music that makes me feel like I'm driving to the beach in 1979 with my friends.
Watching: Busy workdays lead to lunchtime viewing of British people elaborately murdering each other in various scenic and deceptively peaceful locations. Yes, I am talking about Midsomer Murders.

Andi RichardsonAndrea Richardson / Sales:
Reading: Big Little Truths, Liane Moriarty's follow-up to Big Little Lies is so good! Just the sequel we all needed (and it works as a stand-alone, even if you don't know the previous book).
Listening: I saw The Breeders live last night, and "Cannonball" is still playing in my head. They were awesome.
Watching: Love Island, still. I'm not sorry.
