What We're Reading, Listening to, and Watching This Week (11/1/2026)
Linda-Marie Barrett / Executive Director:
Reading: The Curious Calling of Leonard Bush by Susan Gregg Gilmore. I’m loving this big-hearted novel about a boy, Leonard, who loses his leg in a freak accident and decides to give it a proper burial. The funeral service sets off a chain of miraculous and catastrophic events that ultimately unites an East Tennessee town.
Listening: To the “Classical Relaxation” station on Pandora while I work in the glow of my Verilux HappyLight™.
Watching: Spirited, a New Zealand series that features a dentist who meets the ghost of an 80's English rockstar, The Great British Baking Show, and Poirot.
Candice Huber / Membership:
Reading: Just finished Winterset Hollow by Jonathan Edward Durham. The concept is really interesting, but I wasn't a huge fan of the ending. When you're actually on the side of the slashers in a horror novel, it doesn't make for as much fun.
Listening: Only have about 30 minutes left in Twig's Traveling Tomes by Gryffin Murphy. What a fun, cozy, cute Fall book!
Watching: The new season of The Traitors, at this point solely for Alan Cumming's outfits.
Nicki Leone / Communications:
Reading: My mother's recipe cards, which are so old, faded, and creased from being crammed into a box too small for them that they are in danger of becoming illegible. I'm on a mission to rescue and digitize them.
Listening: Catching up the Folger Library's Shakespeare Unlimited podcast.
Watching: Well I did stay up until 2;30 a.m. watching the results of the midterm elections. And SP and I did Night of the Hunter for movie night. I'm still thinking about it a week later. How can a film be simultaneously so frightening and so beautiful?
SP Rankin / Website Administrator:
Reading: The King of a Rainy Country by Brigid Brophy.Listening: New music from Lake Street Dive.Watching: Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma interspersed with Hallmark Christmas movies. Which is campier and scarier? I'm still deciding.
Andrea Richardson / Sales:
Reading: I tore through 12 books on vacation last week, but the best one was All Together Now by Julie Buxbaum. I laughed, I cried, I loved it.
Listening: I am missing the sound of tree frogs singing me to sleep!
Watching: Catching up on allllll the TV I missed. Anyone want to chat about the terrible people on this season of Love is Blind?
