SIBA Support for Small and Indie Presses

SIBA recognizes the special relationship between independent bookstores and small presses. Both are community-focused, support diverse books and authors outside the mainstream, and face many of the same challenges as small businesses in an industry with slim profit margins.

To foster connections between small presses and SIBA's bookstores, SIBA has added a Small Press Industry Membership for any press that publishes 40 or fewer books per year (not including academic or short discounted titles).

Small Press members have reduced member fees and receive discounted pricing on eligible advertising, conference exhibit space, and other programming fees.* SIBA supports small press-centered programming and will work to create opportunities for small presses to reach SIBA's booksellers.

Current industry members who meet the criteria for a Small Press Membership can either renew as a small press when their current membership expires, or contact Nicki Leone, SIBA's communications coordinator, to have their membership converted.
