The team at Resist Booksellers will share their approach to social media, with an emphasis on showing up authentically in a relatable and sustainable way.
Store owner Demetrius Frazier says, "At Resist Booksellers we believe in the power of community. Bookstore owners are a strong force for creating space for people to come together and anything we can do to support them is important to us. We have been asked about our approach to social media due to our current success on the major platforms. We want to demystify social media so others can be successful as well."
At lunch, booksellers will meet Danielle Allen, Gabbie Benda, Deesha Philyaw, and Cali Adeline:

Danielle Allen is a USA Today bestselling romance author, a professor, and a life coach. Living authentically has been the key to her living her best life. With a background in social sciences, helping people better understand themselves so they can become the best version of themselves is one of her passions. She aims to write contemporary romance novels that change the status quo of the genre.

Gabbie Benda is an illustrator and graphic novelist living in Richmond, Virginia. Gabbie earned a degree in Communication Arts from VCUarts in 2020, with a focus on children’s illustration and comics. She loves to bring funny, upbeat stories to life with her quirky yet approachable illustrations. After over a decade as a camp counselor and art teacher, Gabbie is well versed in the art of making kids of all ages smile.

Deesha Philyaw’s debut short story collection, The Secret Lives of Church Ladies, won the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, the Story Prize, and the LA Times Book Prize: The Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction and was a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction. Deesha is a Kimbilio Fiction Fellow, a Baldwin for the Arts Fellow, a United States Artists Fellow, and co-host of two podcasts, Ursa Short Fiction (with Dawnie Walton) and Reckon True Stories (with Kiese Laymon). She is currently at work developing TV shows based on her short fiction.

Cali Adeline lives in Charlottesville, Virginia, with her family where she loves to spend as much time outdoors as possible. People Watching in the Desert is her first novel.
