Aid for MN
Reprinted with the generous permission of NAIBA
Our thoughts are with our bookselling friends in Minnesota who are standing up, speaking out, providing safe spaces, and working diligently to support their communities in the midst of danger, turmoil, and strife. Our thanks to Joey Santo Domingo of Black Garnet Books for compiling this wonderful list of resources and ways to help from afar:
- MIRAC (Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee)
- Monarca
- Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota
- CAN MN (Community Aid Network MN)
- Neighborhood House
- Mutual aid directly to people who need help - Smitten Kitten in Minneapolis keeps their Instagram highlight "Mutual Aid" updated.
- Stand with Minnesota Donation Directory
- And of course, buying gift cards and online orders from local businesses always helps! Here's a list of stores that closed down for the general strike to support.
Binc is also there to help. From free mental health services to emergency financial assistance, booksellers and comic retailers can request help or refer someone for assistance by calling 866-733-9064, by applying online, or via e-mail. All applications and inquiries are completely confidential; only the program manager working on your request will see your information.
