SIBA surveyed both the attendees and the exhibitors from the 2007 trade show. Twenty seven percent of the exhibitors responded and 67% of the exhibitors want to return to the old schedule. Thirty two percent of the attendees responded and 66% of attendees want to return to the old schedule. Combined, 29% of those surveyed responded and only 32% wanted to keep the new schedule. So I guess what they say about keeping people happy is true. The SIBA Trade Show will return to its old schedule. SIBA will continue to hold a Thursday event. We will have education on Friday and Exhibitor set-up will be on Friday afternoon. The exhibit hours will be on Saturday from 9-5 (closed for lunch from Noon – 2) and on Sunday from 9-Noon. The 9 – 10 exhibit hour on Saturday will be open to core members (blue badges) only. SIBA will hold only one Buyers Raffle. This raffle will be at 11:45 AM on Sunday for $1000. The Moveable Feast will return to Saturday night. The autograph area will be open on Sunday only in the exhibit area. We will host a Sunday Breakfast Rep Picks.
New this year, any bookseller that entices a new vendor to exhibit at the trade show will get a free all pass to the SIBA meal functions. Same for exhibitors, any exhibitor that gets a new bookstore to attend the trade show will get the value of an all pass deducted from their table costs. An all pass is valued at $225. SIBA will also institute a Media Room where all sorts of media will be made available. There will be videotaping equipment available, wireless internet, demonstrations of SIBA’s websites, exhibitor demos, author readings will be filmed and made available for bookseller websites and the Reading Good Books to Good People video blog. We will have Reps Picks shelves where books that are presented at the Reps Picks will be displayed – Holiday Catalog titles will be displayed. And more! |
