Southern indie booksellers are not a glum lot.  Most are excited about all of the potential provided by a largely free internet (bloggers, affiliate programs, Twitter, Facebook, Authors 'Round the South & more).  SIBA is also finding new ways to be relevant to the industry as a whole (selling books for member stores, directing thousands of readers to specific books while promoting her bookstores, pulling together Social Networking Summits & more); always looking to engage our collective clout.  SIBA is actively inviting book bloggers, booksellers, publishers, and other industry friends to the show with innovative new programming while keeping bookseller favorites.

Old Favorites @ SIBA I'm looking forward to:

SIBA Supper featuring Fannie Flagg, I Still Dream about You (Random House); Emma Donoghue, ROOM (Little, Brown & Co. & #1 IndieNext Pick for SEPTEMBER); Benjamin Hale, The Evolution of Bruno Littlemore (Twelve) and Walter Mosley, The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey (Riverhead)

Here's To Morrow Breakfast featuring James Swanson, Bloody Crimes; Christy Jordan, Southern Plate; and Robert Barclay If Wishes Were Horses

SIBA is quite excited to be hosting the 2nd Annual Writers Block Auction in Daytona on September 25th.  All of the authors listed below are invited and we hope to have a huge turn-out. We have 3 wonderful restaurants in Daytona that are going to host us:  Ocean Deck, Caribbean Jack's, and Stonewood Grill; all great local, indie restaurants.  Again this year, the winning bid will not only include dinner with the author, but a choice for a free meal for the author or a 20% discount for the entire party (NOT BOTH).  Bidding will start at $50, and bids must increase by a minimum of $1.  A percentage of proceeds will go to a charity of choice of our sponsoring restaurants.
