Advertising - circle of sites
Saturday, 12 December 2009 19:26

SIBA’s Circle of Sites Banner Program -important caveat:  These banner ads carry a special pre-programmed hyperlink that will take the browser to the bookstore site's shopping cart to purchase the book (if the store has ecommerce) or to some other specially designated page (if they don't). We can't link to publisher or author websites, but we do provide the option to purchase the book on clicking if we can.  The advertised books in this program are designated Lady Banks' Pick of the Week and are twittered and facebooked to our thousands of friends and followers.

Circle of Sites is a revolutionary new approach to coordinated marketing in the Southern independent bookstore market.  Designed to reach both booksellers and their customers, the program allows publishers to place a banner ad simultaneously on independent bookstore websites across the South, thus offering region-wide exposure.

The SIBA Circle of Sites pricing model is both affordable and effective.  Pricing is based on the week the ads run, increasing as the year progresses. Ads that start their run in the month of January will cost $100, in February the cost is $200, March will cost $300, April: $400, and so on through the height of the holiday shopping season to December, which will cost $1200 per week.

The following bookstores are already participating and more are coming on board every day:

A Novel Experience, As the Page Turns, Author Squad, Bay Books, Beauty and the Book, Blue Elephant Bookshop, Bookin it!, Booklovers Bookstore, Books & Books, Book Swap of Carrollwood, Bound to be Read, Chapters Bookshop, City Lights, Deb's Bookstore, Dee Gees, Eagle Eye Books, Fiction Addiction, Fireside Books and Gifts, Flyleaf Books, Island Bookstore, Literary Bookpost, Lorelei Books, Malaprops, Orchard House Booksellers, Pablo's on Market, Philips and Lloyd, Poor Richards Booksellers, Spellbound Books, That Bookstore in Blytheville, Two Sisters Bookery, Words, Quartermoon.

The banner spots will be sold by the week, with reservations being taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are only 52 spots available for the entire year.  These spots are only available to 2010 SIBA Industry Members. You can join SIBA here

Scheduling:

Starting Jan. 1, 2010, ads will run for one week from Thursday midnight to Thursday midnight on the collective circle of sites.  An ad is not considered booked until it is paid for and the ad is received by nicki@sibaweb.com.  Participating stores will be notified of the ad's content in advance of its publication on the Circle of Sites so they can confirm their own stock levels.

Design specs:

Banner ads are horizontal, 440x125 pixels (horizontal) and 125x440 (vertical). Both formats are required.  Banners can be gif, jpg, flash, and can only be linked to a bookstore website. Wording designed to point to other sites (such as "click here to visit the author's website) should be avoided.  Contact Nicki at nicki@sibaweb.com for details.
