  • Sales Rep Directory  ( 0 items )

Sales reps are your advocates with your suppliers. They not only help you navigate through each season’s upcoming releases, they also submit event proposals, work to get authors to come to your store, give you a heads up about special offers, send you advanced reading copies, and sometimes even work to get your store coop money for displays and advertising. Establishing a good working relationhsip with your sales reps is one way to make your life easier and your business more profitable.

So who are your reps? SIBA has an ongoing, up to date directory of reps that serve stores in SIBA territory, along with complete contact information.

  • Ask a Bookseller  ( 0 items )
The SIBA community is a collection of booksellers and industry professionals with a wide range of experience. SIBA has recruited some of our veteran members to act as “experts” to answer questions and offer advice. Queries and responses are archived in SIBA’s Knowledge Tree, a searchable database of collected articles on bookselling topics and issues.
  • Document Library  ( 0 items )

SIBA’s document library contains dozens of sample forms, letters, signs and templates free for use in your store. Most of the available documents were submitted by fellow SIBA booksellers, who have used them in their own business operations. Others are handouts from some of SIBA’s many educational seminars. Every file is available for members to alter to fit the needs of their own store.

SIBA’s ongoing discussion group, hosted by Yahoo!, is an online forum for booksellers and industry professionals to meet, exchange news and ideas. SIBA membership is not required to join in the conversations, but the group is carefully moderated to keep the discussions on topic and of interest to booksellers.

“Buy Local” and Independent Business Resources

“Buy Local” campaigns are vital part of a rising grass roots movement in small towns and even larger cities across the country. Independent booksellers have found the Buy Local initiative to be an invaluable tool towards creating partnerships and alliances with other local businesses and for strengthening customer loyalty. SIBA has collected together the materials and resources any store might need to begin “buy local” campaigns in their own communities.

SIBA has also partnered with The American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA) to give SIBA member stores reduced membership rates in that organization. AMIBA is one of the most active (and effective) organizations in creating buy local campaigns and forging local business alliances. The organization provides extensive education, case studies, presentations, start-up kits and marketing materials for member Independent Business Alliances.
