SIBA participates in the Book Sense Bestseller List, and each week publishes a regional bestseller list with information submitted by independent bookstores across its territory. The list is distributed to all SIBA members, and forwarded on to newspapers and other media outlets for publication. |

SIBA Book Award
( 2 items )
Each year, hundreds of booksellers across the South vote on their favorite "handsell" books of the year. These are the "southern" books they have most enjoyed selling to customers; the ones that they couldn't stop talking about. The SIBA Book Award was created to recognize great books of southern origin. Books are nominated in several categories, including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, cooking and children's. For a book to be eligible, it must be set in the South, and it must have been published within the previous calendar year. In order to promote diversity in the award, no author can win the award in the same category twice.
The Book Awards give SIBA stores the ability to extend the shelf life of their favorite books far beyond their usual selling period by making opportunities for extended displays, promoting finals and winners in the store, online and in the holiday catalogs, and creating ways to solicit input from customers about their favorite books.

Blogs

"What have you been reading lately?"
It is the best question you can ask a bookseller, and one that SIBA booksellers live to answer. SIBA sponsors blogs for its member bookstores and their customers to give them a chance to widen their audiences, talk to readers and to each other about the books they find exciting, and to provide more exposure for their store, and all southern independent bookstores. SIBA will host a free blog for any bookseller who is interested, and promote the blog through their websites, updates, and in the Lady Banks’ Commonplace Book.

ARTS
( 1 items )
Authorsroundthesouth.com is one of the most extensive listings of author events and readings in the South. SIBA created Authors ‘Round the South (ARTS) as a tool for member bookstores to promote their events to media and consumers in a wider region. Bookstores enter their events, which become part of a calendar that encompasses the entire South. Both local and national media can use ARTS as a resource for potential interviews and shows. The ARTS site also contains news about independent bookselling and the Southern literary community, including:
- --blogs from Southern booksellers
- --The Southern Independent Bestseller List, and archives
- --news from independent bookstores in the South
- --The SIBA Book Awards
- --Copies of the consumer holiday catalogs
- --Books recommended to Book Sense by SIBA stores
- --information on Book Sense
- --information on Buy Local campaigns
- --links to other ARTS-like sites
- --links to grass-roots literary campaigns
